Repairing

Your Flooded Home

FOLLOWING A FLOOD:

  1. Ask for help. If you have technical questions or don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, get professional help. Use any available telephone hotlines to obtain information about agency programs to help flood recovery.
  2. After cleanup and repair, floodproof your home. Use materials and practices that will prevent or minimize flood damage in the future. Buy flood insurance and write a flood response plan.
  3. Play it safe. Your homes foundation may have weakened, the electrical systems shorted out or floodwaters may have contaminated your home.
